Telesis Introduced New TMC470 Universal Controller

Circleville, OH - September 18, 2008--Telesis Technologies Inc., a world leader in manufacturing standard and customized permanent part marking equipment and systems, announces an enhancement to their controller capabilities with the new Telesis TMC470 Universal Controller.

The Telesis TMC470 is a controller eventually planned to run every pin-marking product in the extensive and renowned Telesis line of permanent dot-peen and continuous line markers. This new controller is a superior solution for both new customers and as an ideal upgrade for users of earlier Telesis controllers, due to a significant advantage in usability and convenience.

Telesis Technologies Inc. developed the initial version of the Telesis TMC470 controller for operation with the Telesis TMP6100 Pinstamp® Marking Head. Initial Beta-site testing of this Telesis TMC470/TMP6100 Marking System is currently ongoing.

The advanced, "best-in-class" controller features a more robust memory, enabling up to 200 files to be stored along with the ability to back-up patterns to a flash drive. The Telesis TMC470 features an Ethernet communications port, two serial ports, and a USB port for pattern back-up, software upgrade and .dxf graphics or logo/font import with appropriate software.

"With ten inputs and six I/O ports, including three spare/configurable of each type, the Telesis TMC470 provides significant flexibility and ease of use," said Tom Marquart, product marketing, for Telesis. "Also, the new controller offers improved graphical displays with enhanced brightness, allowing for easier menu design and display of additional language/character sets."

If the Telesis TMC470 is used in conjunction with a PC, the PC can be disconnected from the controller while in use, either for pattern design or for operation of the controller/marker. This eliminates the need to dedicate a PC to the Telesis Marking System. To further increase the ease of operator interface, a new version of Telesis-branded Merlin Design Software (Merlin III) is in final testing and will be ready soon.

In addition to offering universal control of all Telesis Pinstamp® and TeleScribe® systems, the Telesis TMC470 controller will be configurable with an auxiliary axis control board to drive a programmable Z-axis and/or rotary drive. This replaces the separate dual-axis controller that Telesis currently offers, creating a more compact and convenient package.

The traditional high reliability of Telesis controllers has been further improved to meet challenges of hostile factory environments by including a variable-speed, thermostatically controlled fan and a new oil- and wear-resistant keyboard.
